Procedures Performed Lip Lift, Deep Plane Facelift
This deep plane facelift and lip lift patient had an atypical post-surgery course, but still is ending up with stunning results.
She had an infection that popped up about 5-6 days after the surgery. Infections after facelift are very uncommon. We use post operative antibiotics in all our cases to try and limit risk to the smallest extent possible, but if you do enough of these procedures, eventually one will happen.
Her infection was from an unusual bacteria not typically seen in this area. We battled this infection every day for about two weeks. We saw each other essentially Monday through Sunday during that time. As you might imagine, while the infection was present the neck area looked quite bad. For a patient, when you see yourself like that it is impossible to imagine that things will ever get better.
Again, she was an absolute saint. She showed such poise and grace during the whole process. She did get through the infection, and as time moved on her results really started to show. At the time of these photos she still had a little residual swelling under the chin, but overall has done fantastic. She shows that not all healing is the same and sometimes the healing process throws us curveballs; but in the end good structural surgery will produce excellent results.
*Keep in mind that each patient is unique and your results may vary.
