Procedures Performed Revision Rhinoplasty
This patient came to us seeking a revision rhinoplasty after experiencing persistent dissatisfaction following two previous nasal surgeries. She shared concerns about the size and projection of her nose, specifically regarding a noticeable dorsal hump and deviation that remained even after earlier procedures. A fall eight years ago had led to further injuries and additional surgical scarring, complicating her appearance and breathing. Her earlier treatment included a septoplasty, but complications such as a staph infection left her cautious and anxious about undertaking another procedure.
During her consultation, we discussed her goals to achieve a smaller, straighter nose with a balanced profile. She wanted to reduce the prominence and overall projection, address scars on her nostrils, and correct the lingering "C" shape caused by deviation. On examination, we found that her nose was still overprojected with some convexity of the dorsum and a slight rightward deviation. We created a surgical plan that emphasized safety and careful handling of scarred tissues while aiming for functional and cosmetic improvement.
After her revision rhinoplasty, the patient experienced a smoother, more balanced nasal contour with improved symmetry. We saw a marked reduction in both the dorsal hump and projection. Her nostril shape was refined, and the residual curvature along the bridge was straightened.
At Karter Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery, we approach each revision rhinoplasty with special consideration for prior surgical history and patient anxiety. We believe that a careful, individualized plan and attention to detail are central to a successful outcome.
