At Karter Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery, a highly trained registered nurse injector who is personally supervised by double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Nicholas Karter performs
BOTOX, Letybo®, and neuromodulator treatments.
This collaborative approach prioritizes safety, precision, and results that preserve the natural movement of your face and facial harmony. Patients from Glastonbury and the greater Hartford, CT, area trust our team’s advanced knowledge of facial anatomy to produce BOTOX results that create a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
What Is BOTOX?
BOTOX is a purified, FDA-approved protein that acts as a neuromodulator to temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. By reducing repetitive muscle movement, BOTOX smooths dynamic wrinkles that form due to common expressions, such as frowning or squinting. It also helps prevent deeper lines from developing over time.

What is Letybo?
Like BOTOX, Letybo is a neuromodulator that works by relaxing targeted facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles around the forehead and eyes. It’s approved by the FDA to treat moderate to severe frown lines. Some patients see results slightly sooner compared to BOTOX, making it a suitable alternative based on individual anatomy and treatment goals.
How Do Neuromodulators Work?
Neuromodulators work by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscle contractions in the targeted areas. By reducing muscle activity, the overlying skin appears smoother and more youthful.
BOTOX results develop gradually, allowing facial expressions to soften naturally rather than change abruptly. Because muscle movement is selectively reduced, surrounding areas continue to move normally.
What Does BOTOX Treat?
BOTOX is commonly used to address:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines between the brows (glabellar lines)
- Crow’s feet
- Bunny lines on the nose
- Chin dimpling
- Neck banding in select cases
Our experienced team uses precise dosing based on the targeted treatment area to ensure your results look natural rather than frozen or overdone.

What is a BOTOX Lip Flip?
A BOTOX lip flip subtly relaxes the muscle above the upper lip, allowing the lip to roll outward slightly. This creates the appearance of a fuller upper lip without adding volume or changing the lip shape. Patients who desire more lip fullness benefit from lip fillers.
What to Expect During and After BOTOX Treatment
BOTOX is a quick, in-office treatment that minimizes wrinkles with minimal disruption to your day.
Here’s a general overview of what to expect:
During Treatment
- BOTOX injections typically take 10 to 15 minutes.
- After cleansing the skin, small amounts of BOTOX are injected into targeted facial muscles using a fine needle.
- Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch.
Dosing is customized based on your facial anatomy, muscle strength, and aesthetic goals.
Recovery After BOTOX
- There is little to no downtime following BOTOX.
- Mild redness or swelling at the injection sites may occur and usually resolve within a few hours.
- We recommend you remain upright for 4 to 6 hours after treatment
- Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours to support optimal results.
Initial improvement is often noticeable within 3 to 5 days after BOTOX (and 24 to 48 hours after Letybo), with full results continuing to develop for about 10 to 14 days.
Results and Maintenance
- BOTOX results typically last 3 to 4 months.
- As muscle activity gradually returns, expression lines may slowly reappear.
- Regular maintenance treatments can prolong results and may reduce the depth of lines over time.
Your provider will recommend a personalized treatment schedule based on how your muscles respond and your long-term aesthetic goals.

BOTOX FAQ
How much does BOTOX cost in CT?
The cost of BOTOX in Connecticut varies depending on the areas being treated and the number of units necessary to achieve your desired results. Because your treatment is tailored to your unique concerns, we’ll provide an initial quote during your personalized consultation. We accept financing through CareCredit®.
Does BOTOX make your face look frozen?
When performed correctly, BOTOX does not create a frozen appearance. Our expert injectors carefully dose and place BOTOX to soften wrinkles while preserving your natural facial expressions and movement.
How is Letybo different from BOTOX and other neuromodulators?
Letybo is a newer FDA-approved neuromodulator that may offer a faster onset and a softer, more subtle feel, while BOTOX is the most established option. Both are made from botulinum toxin type A and work by relaxing targeted facial muscles to smooth expression lines. Other popular neuromodulators, such as Dysport® and XEOMIN®, provide similar wrinkle-smoothing benefits with differences in diffusion, dosing, and individual response.
Which neuromodulator should I choose?
The best option depends on your facial anatomy, treatment goals, and how your muscles respond. When it comes to choosing Letybo, BOTOX, and other injectables, our team recommends the right product (or combination) during your consultation.
