Browlift

IN WETHERSFIELD, CT

Brow lifts are an often overlooked, but critical component to appearing natural and refreshed. Elevating the brows and opening the area around the eyes has a dramatic impact on our overall look and helps create a vibrant appearance.

Why a Browlift?

  • Much of the heaviness in the upper eye area is created by a fallen brow. This leads to a tired or sad look despite adequate rest.
  • The browlift procedure is the most powerful way to restore the brows to their natural position. Oftentimes, non-surgical services can not achieve the necessary amount of lift to recreate their youthful position.
  • The face ages in unison. If the cheeks and jowls have fallen with time, it is likely the brows have as well. Addressing the brows at the same time as the lower face helps maintain facial harmony.

Understanding aging of the upper eye area

There are two major changes that occur with upper eye aging; the brows begin to fall downward and inward while the upper lid skin becomes redundant. The fallen brow will exacerbate the upper lid skin excess and also create a fold over the outer part of the eye. When most people think of addressing the upper eye they think of an upper lid blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, but this alone is usually insufficient to create the open, refreshed look around the eye.

Without restoring the brows to their natural position the upper eye area can remain closed off despite removing extra upper lid skin. The browlift procedure restores the brows into their youthful position, opening the area around the eyes while maintaining a natural, youthful appearance.

A minimally invasive technique with maximum results

Traditional browlift techniques often used long incisions along the hairline or the top of the head to create the lift. We use a minimally invasive technique to achieve the same, natural lift with nearly imperceptible scars. One small incision is made within the hairline of the temple on each side. Using specialized instruments under the surface, the brow is able to be freed and moved into its youthful position. The brow is then secured into place with absorbable sutures under the surface. The result is a vibrant, lifted appearance around the eyes with almost no signs of surgical scar.

Know before you go

Making the decision to further explore and understand the browlift procedure can be daunting. This is why we have worked hard to create a patient experience that focuses heavily on patient education and support. After inquiring you should expect:

  • A phone consultation with Erin, our patient care coordinator specialist. During this consultation she will learn more about you and your areas of concern. She will review your options in detail, including technique, downtime, and costs. Together you will decide if we feel like a good fit, and assuming we do, she will schedule you for an in person consultation.
  • Your in person consultation will include an extensive discussion about the aging process around the eyes as well as options to address these changes. We will review your unique needs and together create the perfect plan for you.
  • We try to make surgical scheduling a breeze. We handle all of the communications and payments with the surgery center and anesthesiology team. We encourage you to bring your calendar and potential dates that work well for you. A 20% fully refundable deposit is all that is needed to secure your ideal date.
  • We always meet one additional time before surgery for a pre-operative visit. We go over the post-operative course again in detail. You will be given a post-operative care kit containing everything you will need for your post-surgical care. We will take pre-operative photographs and go through all the surgical consents. We utilize this time to make sure you are 100% prepared for your surgical journey.

Post Surgical Course

We find that for the vast majority of our patients the post-surgical course is well tolerated and well prepared for. Some expectations for the immediate postoperative course are:

  • The downtime is typically 2 weeks for most patients. After this time the average person should have no idea that you had anything done. Any obvious signs of surgery have resolved by this point
  • A browlift can be somewhat uncomfortable in the first few days post op. While the majority of our patients use non-narcotic pain control alone (Tylenol and Ibuprofen), some patients require something stronger if the over the counter medicines are not enough, in these cases we may prescribe a mild narcotic pain medicine.
  • We closely follow all of our patients through their post-surgical course. Typically we see browlift patients at 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery. During each of these visits we are carefully inspecting all aspects of the surgery and ensure the best possible results.
